Protect my family and me from Police Criminals,

Begs Ranjith Sumangala & appeals to all concerned.

Ranjith Sumangala

Ranjith Sumangala, aged 36, a torture survivor, request and appeal to all authorities concerned to protect him and his family, wife and two children, from Police Criminals who illegally arrested, detained and tortured at the Torture Chamber maintained by Mirihana Police and then took to his house, beat and ill-treated like an animal in front of his family and linked in fabricated false charges.

Complains logged by Ranjith against Mirihana Police, went in vain. Hence, on March 28, 2011, he filed a fundamental rights petition against torture and ill-treatment deployed on him by the officers attached to Mirihana Police. Even before this case is taken for hearing by the court, the police criminals have begun pressurize him to withdraw the petition.

The first respondent, Bandara, an officer attached to Mirihana Police had visited his house and ordered his wife to compel Ranjith to withdraw the case.

Up to date, Ranjith is receiving treatment for the injuries caused by the police criminals, and he has also to appear before Horana Magistrate Court to face the fabricated cases.

The wife and children who have not recovered yet from the shock already received by the first incident, are now again in panic by the unauthorized visit made by the Policemen

Ranjith Sumangala appeals to all concern to stop police criminals visiting and further harassing him and his family.

Torture Chamber at Mirihana Police

A man was abducted by Mirihana Police, subjected to torture and produced before court on false allegations.
According to the torture survival, he was abducted by some policemen attached to Mirihana Police when he was going for work.
Among the abducts was a retired Army Officer who acts as a guide.
After abduction he was taken to cemetery where he was blind folded and assaulted severely in a manner to kill him. Then he was taken to Mirihana Police in a van. In the van he was again assaulted and was pushed in between the seats on the floor of the van.
At Mirihana Police Station he was tortured for 4 days without giving water or food. On the fifth day he was taken to a room named by them as ‘Torture Chamber’. At the torture chamber he was hanged and assaulted.
When he was there, he was not permitted to go for his nature calls, but was severely assaulted and due to that urine and bowls were passed out beyond his control.
On the last day he was taken out of the chamber, bathed and was forced to wear wet cloths.
In the afternoon he was taken to court and an order was obtained to detain him for 48 hour. At the end of 48 hours Mirihana Police did not obliged to court order, but detained him further and forced to white wash the police building.
Afterwards he was released on bail and when he went to Government Hospital and received treatment, there it was found that he was suffering from Post Traumatic Disorders.
